PRODUCT FAQs

PRINTING PROCESS

Prints are on Kodak Endura Premier Photo Paper and Fuji Crystal Archive Super Type PDN, which are the highest quality photo papers available on the market. Their archiving ability exceeds one hundred years and is acid-free.

We use the Chromogenic Print process, also known as Silver Halide. Silver Halide Photographic Prints are composed of three layers of gelatin, each containing an emulsion of silver halide (used as a light-sensitive material). The photo paper is exposed to light, and the image is infused into the paper through a chemical process. The resulting Prints have more depth, more vibrant colors, more details in highlights and shadows, are sharper, and are less susceptible to fading/damage as seen with Inkjet Photographic Prints. Unlike the Silver Halide process, Inkjet Photographic Prints simply apply ink to just the surface of the paper.

Our finish is lustre, which is closely related to a matte finish, but with a mild sheen that highlights the color and offers a subtle textured look. Lustre is the industry standard in professional printing.

MOUNTING OF PRINTS

All prints are mounted on black styrene. Styrene is a 2mm (3/32") thick plastic composite and extremely resistant to warping due to its rigid nature. The prints do not require glass or further manipulation, just a frame. Without mounting, a print will begin rippling or collapsing on itself. Mounting is necessary to prevent this and extend the lifespan of the print. Hanging hardware is not included.

FRAMING

Prints are unframed. We only sell our prints in one size--24" height x 18" width--which is a very common frame size. Attractive and reasonably priced frames in this size are available in every craft store and big-box retailer that sells frames. You can easily frame your print for anywhere from $10 (plastic...looks it) on up to an antique gold frame. I personally have simple, black wood frames, which are all in the $20-30 range. This also lets me rotate my prints, since all fit the 24" x 18" frames. I simply put the new print in front of the old, so "storage" is actually the frame that goes back up on the wall!

DISPLAYING YOUR ARTWORK

Although Silver Halide prints are designed to withstand fading and retain their color for generations, you shouldn't hang your artwork in direct sunlight. Just like a car's finish or anything else left in the sun, time and sunlight will have a negative effect.

COMMISSIONS

No, we do not accept commissions.

DIGITAL DOWNLOADS

We do not sell digital downloads of the artwork.
